Having had a fantastically positive opening couple of weeks for the (tiny) farm shop I am going to give each of my lovely products a spin on the tasting table every Friday afternoon. So if anyone is unsure about buying new products then they can check them out first. Starting this Friday will be different ways of cooking pumpkins – just in time before they disappear until next October. So pumpkin soup, muffins, bread, roast spiced pumpkin and anything else I can think of in the meantime will be on offer to visitors to the shop. Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes are in plentiful supply during the late Autumn and are unfortunately sent off to the bin after being carved without the owner realising that delicious things can be made from them. They are the same family as courgettes – there are two seasons for this family of vegetables. Summer squashes (such as courgettes) are soft skinned and we eat the whole thing. Winter squashes such as Butternut and Pumpkins are hard skinned and need to be peeled but they taste fantastic and make the most velvety soups imaginable. Stop in for a taste if you are in the area. Open noon til 7.30pm.
